Job Overview
The Driller is responsible for ensuring that the work in and around the drill floor and BOP occurs in a safe and effective manner thereby meeting and / or exceeding Nabors Offshore's and the contracting Company's goals and objectives for safety, production and budget. The Driller supervises and coordinates the activities of the drilling crew under the direction and supervision of the Toolpusher and/or Rig Manager.
Key Relevant Tasks:
• Anticipates potential problems, pre plans and implements corrective action in a timely manner thereby helping to ensure outcomes reach company goals for the drilling operations
• Assists the Rig Manager with post analysis reviews of critical actions and implements ongoing best practice activities for future operations
• Ensures the safety of the drill crew and all support personnel working in and about the drill floor
• Oversees the continual preventive maintenance and repair of the equipment used in the drilling operations along with ensuring continual cleaning and housekeeping in and about the drill floor
• Operates the rig through a computer operating system or operates levers & brake pedals to control the draw-works that lower and raise the drill pipe/ casing out of the hole.
• Ensures drilling operations follow established plan. Monitors the progress of the drilling operations, determining when bits need to be changed while operating pumps, rotary table, draw-works and drill pipe.
• Together with the Rig Manager, continually trains and develops employees working on the drilling
rig so as to meet the employee's career goals while at the same time meeting the needs of the company
• Adjusts mud pumps to maintain the proper circulation rate

Essential Functions:
• Attention span to stay alert and attentive for up to 12 hour tour
• Able to work 21 days on and 21 days off, including holidays, weekends and or days and nights; and able to live with others in relatively close confines
• Able to work well with others while working in a close environment for extended periods of time with minimal ability to leave the driller's cabin
• Make important judgment decisions that affect the safety of the crew
• Give verbal instructions clearly and concisely
• Advanced knowledge of the emergency shut-in procedures and able to respond to any emergency efficiently and professionally
• Able to stand and walk throughout the tour while wearing steel toed boots including steel decking and grating that may be covered with drilling fluids, or on wet decks of vessels in rough seas with waves pushing across the deck.
• Must be able to repetitively climb stairs and ladders, work in an unprotected environment as well as be able to lift / carry and work with items weighing upwards of 35 lbs
• Assist the Rig Manager with trouble shooting and problem solving in a decisive manner
• Must be able to transfer from boat to rig through the use of a personnel basket, holding onto the outside of a rope matrix while basket is lifted in excess of 100 feet off the water, swung over the rig platform and placed on the deck.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Ability to perform essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Minimum of 12 months as an Assistant Driller and/or Derrickhand on a similar rig with Nabors Offshore or 12 months of experience as a Driller for another drilling company
• Strong knowledge of the Floorhand, Motorhand and Derrickhand positions
• Advanced level of mechanical knowledge of rotary drill equipment, mud circulating systems, and well shut-in procedures
• Ability to wear respiratory protective devices
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the crew change point of assigned rig
• Amphion experience is required

Preferred Qualifications:
• High school diploma, certificate or equivalent
• AC and/or SCR Rig experience
• Completion of Certified Supervisory Well Control course that is unexpired
• Experience using computer and multiple screens to monitor drilling activities
