Overview / Responsibilities The Senior Project Specialist is responsible for the management of the PMO Centre of Excellence (COE) and reports to the Head of Project Controls. They are responsible for the application of Project Management (PM) Good Practice and maintaining/developing PM competency within the organisation to support PM maturity. This key role: Works closely with Service Areas, Project Managers, and internal stakeholders to build upon project management processes and training needs. Key Responsibilities Project Responsibilities: Develop the Project Management (PM) Community of Practice to facilitate collaboration and Good Practice sharing amongst project managers, key Project Control stakeholders and operational areas Identify training needs or development opportunities within the organisation to support PM maturity and develop a training strategy Create or support SMEs in development of PM training and schedule the delivery when required by the organisation Develop and maintain project delivery processes and tools to be utilised by Project Managers (PM) Ensure all documentation complies with ISO 9001 and organisational requirements Provide expert advice on PM Good Practice to the operational areas and support continuous improvement Ensure the PM Competency database is maintained and support in the identification of suitably experienced individuals for projects Deliver training to new PMs to ensure they are inducted to understand Wood PM tools, templates, training, and financial systems Work alongside Assurance Specialist to undertake monthly project reviews and feedback areas for continuous improvement Build and maintain relationships with senior leadership and key Project Control stakeholders, and acts as a trusted advisor Reporting Responsibilities: Produce regular reports from the Competency Database to establish current PM competency levels Ad hoc reporting when required to highlight PM training progress across the organisation Skills / Qualifications Experience of the Project Controls, PMO, Project and Programme environment Knowledge of project management processes, techniques and tools Extensive project experience on low-high complexity projects through the full project life cycle Experience in CPD and mentoring Experience in the development of 'good practice' and organisational standards or processes Numerical and analytical skills with an inquisitive background Computer literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office and Excel skills Ability to work well in a team and independently Must be able to meet deadlines Strong communication skills - both written and oral Excellent customer service focus, both internal and external Exceptional organisational skills and able to multi-task Essential: Previous experience in Project Controls / PMO environment Degree qualified (or equivalent) in relevant technical or business discipline or can be substituted by suitable business experience Preferred: Project Management related qualification would be advantageous - APM, MoP, MSP, MoR, MoV , Change Management, AGILE,P30 Company Overview Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
