Come be part of something special - start your journey today! ***This position is eligible for a Sign-on Bonus***SUMMARYDrive a tractor-trailer combination capacity up to 80,000 GVW, to transport and deliver hazardous and non-hazardous materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form. Required to load and unload multi-compartment tanker, box truck, or flatbed. Essential Functions:Support all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, policies, and regulations.Complies with all applicable state and federal DOT regulations, company guidelines and appropriate safety procedures when transporting hazardous materials.Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles. Responsible for scheduling both preventative and unplanned maintenance.Conducts company business in a professional manner while working with scheduler, customers, inventory planners and sales reps to obtain delivery instructions and schedule unloading. Secure cargo for transport, using straps, blocks, chain, binders, and/or covers. May be required to load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading.Position is based out of Addison, IL.Deliver to all GE customers in the US Western states including, but not limited to:MI, IN, KY, TN, AK, MS, IL, WI, MN, IA, NE, KS, CO, WY, MT, SD, ND.This list is not all-inclusive and may include other duties as assigned and necessary for the operation of the business.QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma / GED Minimum of 3 years of experience with class A CDL hazardous materials transportation and driving a tractor-trailer combination Class A CDL drivers License with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements prior to hireClean driving and safety recordELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Ability and willingness to travel up to 95% of the time, as required Ability and willingness to travel overnights, as requiredAbility and willingness to work overtime, as required Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid TWICAbility and willingness to wear a respirator per customer requirementsAbility and willingness to be part of the Department of Homeland Security's Personnel Surety Program DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:Associate degree (2-year college or technical school)Valid US Passport or ability to obtain Experience with electronic logs preferably Peoplenet All weather driving experience (heat, snow, ice, hail, sleet, rain, fog) Experience with Freightliner or Kenworth tractor equipmentExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAttention to detail and strong math skills Strong computer skills Team player, individual thinker, self-starter with an ability to work independently Forklift certificationWe're an organization that champions diversity and inclusion at every level and are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace!To protect our customers, our employees, and their families, we strongly encourage, and in some cases require, successful new hires to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to starting employment unless an exemption is granted as required by law.
