Overview / Responsibilities Wood is currently seeking a Lead / Principal Electrical Engineer in order to grow its Brisbane Mining & Mineral group to meet the large demand in critical metals projects. We can offer you a career in the ever-expanding battery and magnet metals industry driving the decarbonisation of the globe. This is a full time permanent role working in our office based in the city centre working on the detailed design of a magnetite concentrator overseas. Wood is at the forefront of engineering solutions for a net zero future. A key component of decarbonising the world is the Mining and Minerals Industry which supplies the critical minerals required for this revolution. Wood is currently delivering critical metals projects (Battery and Magnet metals) all over the world, including Copper, Lithium, Vanadium, Rare Earths, and Base Metals projects. In this highly visible role in the group, duties will include (but not limited to): Leading a team of highly skilled electrical engineers, manage time, resources, and people-hours for the project Responsible for ensuring products, equipment, materials, etc. are designed and developed to the highest standard. Defines and establishes design constraints. Conceives and plans engineering development and feasibility studies. Collaborates with management to define technical needs. Conceives programs, sets goals and identifies problems to be investigated Continuous promotion of and, adherence to the discipline specific procedures and providing feedback for continuous improvement. Support the development and delivery of the technical assurance framework. Participate in or lead incident investigations as required. Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities. Serves as an advisor to other technical personnel. Leads workshops such as Hazop, Safop, Constructability, Peer Review, Hazid, etc. Works with project groups as an expert technical advisor on designs, processes, and engineering methods Prepares long-range strategic plans for the group Contributes to business development through regular engagement, relationship building and delivery to clients, as well as identifying and pursuing opportunities to expand scope of work for Wood. Monitor compliance with competence standards. In consultancy business areas, may manage a portfolio of projects with responsibility for cost, schedule, resource allocation and risk, in line with overall project management strategy. Skills / Qualifications What will set you apart is your 15+ years of experience at a major engineering company having worked on a large-scale project in the resources industry, preferably on a mining project. You will also have: Formal qualifications in Electrical Engineering or similar from a recognised tertiary institution Chartership, Professional Engineer (PE) status or equivalent relevant professional license/registration from a recognised national or industry engineering institution is high regarded Lead a team of engineers, managed resources, and mentored junior engineers Typically requires broad and extensive authoritative experience and accomplishments resulting in recognition as a world-class expert in the field. Extensive experience and accomplishments resulting in recognition as a technical resource for the entire company in a particular field Maintains an expert level understanding of departmental design standards and guidelines, as well as applicable engineering codes and standards Ability to discover issues and recommend solutions to technical and commercial issues uncovered during course of performing assignments Ability to initiate the exchange of required technical concepts and information with the Design staff and other disciplines Ability to provide guidance and direction to project team and suggestions for departmental standards Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and legislation. Demonstrates ability to affectively manage resources (personnel, equipment, materials etc), and to motivate and mentor others Demonstrates skills in problem solving, team building, total quality management Provides high level technical expertise or specialized consulting advice with far-reaching effects on critical business areas Demonstrates a high degree of creativity and innovation Possess an in-depth knowledge of the various Business Units, Functions, Sectors and services offered within business area, a good understanding of other Wood business offerings and strong ability to network and connect internal stakeholders Please note, only applicants holding valid working rights in Australia will be considered.
