Responsibilities This is a unique opportunity where the individual will have the chance to actively work in all stages of a project, starting from the scope and concept to prototyping and designing/building the test equipment when required, going from concept to a hands-on testing on a lab environment. This is the perfect way to launch your career! This position will be responsible for the testing & evaluation of oilfield pumps and other oilfield equipment in a laboratory environment, installation of piping and instrumentation, conducting equipment with and without supervision to complete test scenarios as directed. This position will be tasked with designing test equipment, reviewing and analyzing results, will also perform maintenance and repair of equipment and assets in a safe, timely, cost effective and efficient manner. While each test project and equipment in the laboratory requires individual skill development and different tasks, generally the following duties include: Conduct tests on products or materials according to engineering designs and specifications, recording data as required Design test equipment A hands-on approach to designing experiments, testing processes, troubleshooting, data gathering and analysis. Strong excel skills are an asset Analyze test results and prepare reports for senior engineers and upper management Ability to coordinate with multiple departments to communicate and manage project requirements Installation, maintenance, and calibration for measurement and control equipment including valves, transducers, piping assemblies, sensors, and data loggers. Develop testing procedures and interpret test data with assistance from coworkers and mentors. Complete preventative maintenance inspections on equipment and perform overhauls as necessary Actively participate in company safety procedures and programs: correct unsafe work practices or situations; follow reporting protocols for violations; participate in the Hazard Identification process Fully participate in continuous process improvement and cost control, following quality policies, procedures and standards to maintain company guidelines Perform other duties as required, including effective shop clean-up and the accurate and timely completion of paperwork and occasional shipping and receiving duties for the facility. Qualifications Education: Degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering or a similar field of study Registered or can be registered as an engineer-in-training, or as a professional engineer in Alberta Knowledge/Experience: Previous experience in an industrial/manufacturing/production/rig environment is an asset Skills: Excellent mechanical troubleshooting and problem solving skills Aggressive self-starter that has the ability to work independently and constantly seeks out new work Previous experience and comfort with hand, electric and pneumatic power tools Highly detail-oriented Effective working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite (Word and Excel) and CAD programs (CREO) Position Suitability: Have excellent English communication skills and the ability to work in a team setting Possess mechanical aptitude Hands on attitude, highly motivated, detail oriented, desire to learn, desire to outperform
