Weatherford is currently seeking a Project Engineer - Mechanics who is passionate about conceptualizing, developing, and deploying physics-based models to accurately characterize hydraulic processes taking place during well drilling and completion operations. The successful candidate will work with multiple domain experts to improve existing modeling solutions and create new solutions addressing energy industry challenges energy in a business-effective way. Essential: Solid understanding of mechanical modeling and numerical methods applied to the energy industry Experience with steady-state, transient and explicit dynamics modeling tools for mechanical processes Proven experience in developing physics-based solutions for mechanical processes in the energy industry. This may include but is not limited to drilling mechanics, downhole mechanics, torque and drag, vibration, explicit dynamics, drilling bottom home assembly integrity, abrasion, failure analysis, heat transfer and dissipation, etc. Able to apply engineering principles and analysis to develop and improve physics-based solutions Knowledge of oil and gas and energy industry data and problems to which modeling solutions can be applied to Strong scientific and technical writing/presentations Proven track record of technical publications Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modeling Exemplary interpersonal skills including conflict resolutions Ability to manage multiple issues to successful resolution Capability of working collaboratively in a team environment in person and remotely maintaining effective interactions with team members coming from a broad range of backgrounds both cultural and technical High level of personal accountability Excellent verbal and written communications skills Mentoring, teambuilding, and morale building skills Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology trends Open-mind, humble and curious attitude Demonstrated ability to effectively work in cross-functional multi-cultural teams, meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple projects Excellent problem-solving skills Preffered Familiar with Software Development processes and methodologies Experience with higher-level interpreted programming languages applied to sciences such as MATLAB, Python and R (at least 1) Familiar with C++ Experience working in a self-driven, performance/results oriented, fast paced environment Ability to understand the financial drivers of the business Knowledge of directional drilling and/or managed-pressure drilling engineering is a plus Qualifications Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (thermal or mechanical focus) or related technical subject area with a minimum of 10 years of related experience Solid understanding of mechanical modeling and numerical methods. Generate models based on equations. (Applied to the energy industry a plus) Experience with steady-state, transient and explicit dynamics modeling tools for mechanical processes Proven experience in developing physics-based solutions for mechanical processes (in the energy industry is a plus). This may include but is not limited to drilling mechanics, downhole mechanics, torque and drag, vibration, explicit dynamics, (drilling bottom home assembly integrity a plus) abrasion, failure analysis, heat transfer and dissipation, etc. Focused on investigation and develop of products and software development.
