Overview / Responsibilities Wood is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Designer in order to grow its Perth Mining & Minerals Asset Support division. Wood's Asset Support business delivers integrated solutions to sustain, optimise and extend the life of operating production facilities. The core Asset Support services include brownfield projects, operation readiness, asset management and production improvement. Working in our newly fitted offices in the Perth CBD, we have an onsite gym with five-star end of trip facilities. This is a full time permanent position. As part of this role, while not limited to the following, you will undertake the following duties: Detailed layout, design and production of drawings encompassing all aspects of a package in accordance with relevant standards and project requirements Managing, directing, and overseeing a small team of designers Inter-discipline liaison, support and timely transfer of information Timely completion of drawings and schedules Review and processing of vendor data and drawings Adherence to project man-hour budgets Adherence to Wood Standards and Procedures Assist in checking of study and project drawings Miscellaneous drafting and site tasks, as directed Assistance with site installation and commissioning Skills / Qualifications What will set you apart is a work history which includes at least 10 years of design experience in the mining industry, at an engineering company. You will have used a number of 2D and 3D programs including Microstation, AutoCAD, and Navisworks. You will also have: Broad knowledge of construction techniques and plant operations Previous experience with brownfields or maintenance projects Lead and support small to medium sized teams Good understanding of mineral resource technology Good understanding of mechanical technology Experience with Process Plant design and layout Possess teamwork skills as well as an understanding of other discipline requirements and expectations Quick and accurate with methodical approach to allocated work areas Good understanding of the scope of work and project development process Proficient checking skills with ability to work unsupervised, focus on task completion, initiative Quick and accurate with methodical approach to allocated work areas Please note, only applicants holding valid working rights in Australia will be considered.
