Overview / Responsibilities Wood is currently seeking a Senior Structural Designer in order to grow its Brisbane Mining & Mineral group to meet the large demand in critical metals projects. Wood is at the forefront of engineering solutions for a net zero future. Wood is currently delivering critical metals projects (Battery and Magnet metals) all over the world, including Copper, Lithium, Vanadium, Rare Earths, and Base Metals projects. Working on a world class gold and copper deposit overseas, we require a suitably qualified person to assist in a critical stage of the project. In this integral role, you will undertake the following duties: Detailed layout, design and production of drawings encompassing all aspects of a plant construction package in accordance with relevant standards and project requirements Inter-discipline liaison, support and timely transfer of information Timely completion of drawings and schedules Review and processing of vendor data and drawings Adherence to project man-hour budgets Adherence to Wood Standards and Procedures Assist in checking of study and project drawings Assist with training of lesser experienced and junior draftspeople Miscellaneous drafting and site tasks, as directed Assistance with site installation and commissioning Assistance with the development of estimates Skills / Qualifications What will set you apart is your previous experience within an engineering company having worked on major mining projects, with an excellent handling on base metals, minerals, and/or mineral processing projects in Australia. You will also have: 10 to 15 years of relevant experience Well-developed computer skills with a good knowledge of at least one CAD system (preferably MicroStation or AutoCAD) as well as a working knowledge of relational databases and spreadsheets Good understanding of mineral resource technology as well as civil/structural technology Possess teamwork skills as well as an understanding of other discipline requirements and expectations Quick and accurate with methodical approach to allocated work areas Good understanding of the scope of work and project development process Proficient checking skills with ability to work unsupervised, focus on task completion, initiative Quick and accurate with methodical approach to allocated work areas Good organisational and time management skills Ability to problem-solve effectively Effective communication skills Ability to effectively work in a team Attention to detail Strong analytical, literacy and numerical skills Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and engineering programs.
