The Project Support Mechanical Technician coordinates and works with Operations, Engineering, Construction and Commissioning Teams to produce a quality finished project on time. Reporting to the Construction Manager. The position will be directing Company person, contractor crews and third-party vendors in field activities. There will be safety plans, work plans, lift plans, and overall execution plans to create and work from to direct all field staff, subcontractors, vendors, materials and activities necessary to successfully complete Capital projects of varying complexity.Primary ResponsibilitiesEnsure 100% implementation of safety program required for project.Work with project and site engineering to ensure all construction both civil and mechanical is done within design standards and complies to all regulations. New workers on project are oriented to site specific safety program requirements and logistics.Conduct pre-phase planning by attending project meetings to understand scope and field installations for new equipment in operations well in advance of the project.Conduct daily inspections of work site to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors.Attend daily Project Safety toolbox Meetings, discuss daily safety focus and work activities impacting site safety.Timely begin investigation of all incidents.Permit Capital project work as needed.Coordinate with Operations of all field activitiesManage 2 week look ahead and strict adherence to schedule demands.Attend daily Project meeting to communicate daily work, progress and priorities.Conduct Field Project audits and forward report with action plans to the Project Manager, Safety Manager, & Plant Manager.Track Construction team KPI'sIncidentsNear missesJob Observations/Concern reportsPercent Project completionQA/QCWeld defects Failed /passedHydrotests Fail/passed, Assist the Commissioning team with procedure reviews, equipment to commission and contractor support. Participate in various PSSR activities.Work with project and site engineering to ensure all construction, civil and mechanical, is done within design standards and complies to regulations. Ensure Operation, Maintenance and Technical are trained by vendors and suppliers on all aspects of newly installed equipment.This list is not all-inclusive and may include other duties as assigned and necessary for the management of the project and overall plant operation.Ensure all project records are in order regarding all safety-related activities.Provide rating of subcontractor safety performance to home office personnel for future project consideration.Assist in a Lesson-Learned exercise for continuous improvement of the process. QualificationsB.S. degree in Construction Technology, Engineering or a high school diploma/GED with 10 Years Plant/Field construction equivalent experience which includes a minimum of 5 years supervising crews and personnel.Desired CharacteristicsDemonstrates good communications and Interpersonal skills.Capable of scheduling and planning a team's workStrong computer skills with a working knowledge of Mircosoft Office products.Basic knowledge of welding procedures and testing protocols.Lifting and rigging experience.Ability to read and understand P&IDsPump/motor alignment and pipe stress requirmentsCapable to multi-task, prioritize and making sound decisionsStrong organizational skills with a high attention to detailAbility to manage multiple assignments Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsPhysical Demands/Conditions RequirementsAbility to work additional hours as necessary to maintain project schedules.
