Are you the new Manager, Maritime Technology and Regulations at BIMCO?
Maritime regulations, and especially in the area of environmental protection, calls for far reaching measures that will impact construction, operation and dismantling of ships in future decades. BIMCO is looking for a new employee who has a deep understanding of ships’ technical operations and at the same time, is interested in the regulatory side of shipping.
Greenhouse gas emissions top the regulatory agenda and BIMCO plays an important role in shaping realistic global solutions that can work for the industry and at the same time be acceptable to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) member states.
Air emissions are being heavily regulated across the spectrum including SOx, NOx and particulate matter. These regulations have a huge impact on the future of shipping; not only on the fuels used, but also the engines burning these fuels and systems managing the fuels on board. Knowing how it really works on board modern ships is critically important for BIMCO. Using expert knowledge to ensure harmonisation and standardisation of international shipping activities through dialogue with both shipowner members and IMO member states, is a key part of BIMCO’s day to day role.
