As Technical Innovation Manager you will be reporting directly to the CTO.

You will be managing tug-related innovative projects as well as playing an essential role in providing technical specialist knowledge to the Group Commercial department when preparing tenders.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibility is to leverage innovative solutions hereby impacting reliability and cost efficiency of Svitzer’s current and future fleet.

This involves close and continuous collaboration with the Group Commercial department and capitalizing on innovative solutions in the preparation of tenders.

Further responsibilities involve project management activities, management of operational interfaces in cooperation with the Head of Newbuilding and management of innovation projects for the fleet renewal pipeline and strategy.

More specifically, you will be expected to deliver on the following:

• Managing the portfolio of newbuilding innovation and continuous improvements.
• Ensuring fleet-wide upgrades and replacement of existing technical systems and equipment.
• Drive innovation improvements by using new technologies and developments.
• Create innovative and cost efficient solutions to ensure competitive advantage in tenders.
• Enhancing environmental and power management systems to optimise eco and fuel efficiency.
• Driving cost effectiveness, including assistance to the Head of Procurement for cost-effective purchasing.
• Keeping management advised of developments within areas of responsibility.
• Initiating technical assessment of selected shipyards and suppliers for newbuildings in co-operation with the Head of Newbuilding.
• Ensuring that existing quality parameters are fulfilled.

Who we are looking for

You have a long (10+ years) and acknowledged career within the maritime industry and a good understanding of maritime rules and regulations.

You may also have some years of management experience and you are capable of prioritizing to ensure timely delivery of objectives and targets.
You have a background as an engineer (Marine, Mechanical or Electrical), or as a naval architect, and you have well documented experience with vessel newbuilding and innovation project management.

To be successful in the position you need to have excellent communication skills. Our working language is English and you must be fluent in writing as well as verbally. You are persistent by nature and have a thorough approach to problem solving.

You are a proven self-starter with proficiency in negotiation. You thrive by working with complex issues in an international high performance non-bureaucratic environment.
