Position Summary The Oceaneering Vibration Group provides technical leadership and expertise in the field of vibration engineering and to clients in the oil and gas and energy sectors. The Engineer will be a key member of the team, providing innovative solutions to complex problems and helping to ensure the safe and reliable operation of critical equipment. The team is responsible for delivering and developing key capabilities including: • Energy Institute pipework vibration assessments including FIT, AIV and Pulsation • Site-based measurement surveys on pipework and structures • Integrity assessments using standards including BS7608, BS7910 and API579 • Short- and long-term monitoring systems installed on structures, pipework and machinery. • Advanced site testing techniques (e.g., modal analysis) • FE analysis of pipework and structures The Engineer will be a highly skilled engineer with a strong understanding of vibration theory, mechanical and integrity engineering. The engineer will have experience assessing the integrity of piping and structures using industry codes and standards and advanced analytical methods such as ODS analysis/FE modelling. They will communicate effectively with clients and other engineers and will be able to prepare clear and concise technical reports. Duties & Responsibilities Functions ESSENTIAL Support the department lead and more senior engineers in the delivery and management of projects. Provide technical advice and support to clients to manage and provide solutions to complex problems. Perform risk assessments on plant to identify equipment that may be susceptible to excessive vibration Conduct vibration analysis and troubleshooting on rotating equipment, static equipment, pipework, and structures, to identify vibration integrity threats and the root cause. Assist senior colleagues in the development of short- and long-term solutions to mitigate vibration integrity threats. Develop vibration risk mitigation strategies, including vibration monitoring and inspection programs. Develop numerical models (such as FE or CFD) to support the assessment of vibration issues affecting pipework and structures. Prepare concise, accurate technical reports and presentations that effectively communicate key conclusions and recommendations. Develop strong relationships internally with the integrity management and engineering teams and externally with Clients, Contractors and offshore personnel to ensure excellence in delivery and an effective vibration / integrity service. Undertake offshore or onshore site visits or surveys as required. Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company. Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment. Supervisory Responsibilities None Qualifications REQUIRED Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. 2+ years of experience in vibration engineering or a related engineering field. Experience in the oil and gas or energy sectors is preferred. Strong knowledge of vibration analysis principles and techniques. Experience with vibration monitoring and data analysis software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. DESIRED • Master's degree in related subject e.g., Mechanical • Award of professional engineer status within local region e.g., CEng/EUR ING/PE • Offshore medical and survival certification Working Conditions The position is considered to be a mixture of onshore/offshore site work and office work. During the period spent in the office this may be in an open place office with access by stairs and lifts. Physical Activity/Requirements • There will be a requirement to regularly go offshore by helicopter/ship to floating structures/fixed platforms. This will require typical offshore PPE and inspection type activities requiring confined space entry (CSE). • There will be a requirement to go to an onshore location to perform the same duties as above. • Offshore and Onshore work may also be characterised as living, working, and sleeping on oil and gas production facilities with PPE and permit to work restrictions outdoors, over/near water, exposed to all weather conditions or inside exposed to high noise levels, extremely bright or inadequate lighting, cramped workspaces and getting into awkward positions. The office role is considered LIGHT work. OCCASIONAL FREQUENT CONSTANT • Lift up to 10 kg • Climbing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and reaching • Lift up to 5 kg • Standing • Repetitive movements of arms and hands • Use a PC monitor & mouse • Differentiate between colours • Sit with back supported The onshore/ offshore work scope is considered MEDIUM work.
