For over 40 years, GFC Crane has been specializing in daily container crane maintenance and the supervision of container crane operations.
GFC provides preventive and corrective maintenance seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day on a continually expanding number of cranes.
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform on site repairs on customer's cranes including planned/preventative repairs as part of customer's maintenance contract, in response to a service call or on an emergency call due to an equipment breakdown.
Troubleshoot, test diagnose, inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical, and hydraulic systems on gantry and mobile cranes and support equipment to ensure lowest possible downtime level in a safe manner.
Repair/Operate equipment and vehicles in a safe and proficient manner.
Direct and carry out the preventive tasks as per schedule for the proper upkeep of the equipment.
"On-call" status maybe required
Moving cranes (pre-op) to designated dock locations and handoff to registered crane operators/stevedores
Rectifying unsafe conditions
Patience and ability to remain calm in stressful situations

Maintain assigned equipment and work areas in a clean, organized and professional manner.

Punctuality for shifts is imperative.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Work experience in heavy lifting equipment operation and maintenance or
Has been in a mechanical, hydraulic, electrical maintenance field.
Good in English language (reading, writing and communication skills).
Experience:
Experience or in maintaining/repairing heavy equipment preferred
Mechanical, hydraulic, electronic and electrical aptitude preferred
Skills Preferred:
read and understand electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
Travel: None
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid driver license is required and must be maintained during employment.
TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential Required
This position is designated as safety sensitive and is subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability and willingness to climb and work at high elevations
Frequently remain in a stationary position.
Constantly move, traverse inside office or on Port Everglades property to accomplish job duties.
Operate, use or handle equipment, rigging, and tools.
Ascend, descend, work atop, traverse on ladders, equipment and buildings to perform maintenance.
Position self to move, maintain or repair equipment on terminal..
Converse with others via radio, telephone on constant basis.
Ability to listen to equipment to troubleshoot
Continuously move, transport and position, material up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 75 pounds.
