Overview / Responsibilities Wood KSS is looking for an expression of interest from a Deputy Lead Technical Safety Engineer (Expatriate) with proven experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry to join our Operations business on a 6 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation, based in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. This role will be an initial 12 month contract commencing August/September 2023. Wood "Operations" delivers brownfields engineering, procurement, construction, optimisation and technical services to the Oil & Gas industry and enjoys long-term partnerships with some of the region's most prominent producers. Reporting directly to the Lead Technical Safety Engineer and working across FEED / Execution, your focus will be on performing formal safety assessment studies, support for risk-based decision-making, application of safety in design principles to the design/modification of petroleum production/processing facilities and compliance with safety regulations. Skills / Qualifications As part of the regional requirements for obtaining work permits, you must hold a relevant Bachelor of Engineering degree from a recognised institution. Ideally you will have relevant experience in safety engineering for petroleum production / processing facilities and preferably on brownfields projects. In addition, you will have: A minimum of 12 years experience in formal safety assessment studies, risk-based decision-making and the design/specification of safety critical equipment and systems Facilitation of technical workshops Knowledge of safety regulations and applicable industry codes / standards Excellent standard of written and oral communication Strong analytical and numerical skills Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment A "solutions mindset" and able to manage varying tasks with often changing and competing priorities What will set you apart will be proven FEED and greenfields gas processing facility experience working in a similar role.
