Job Description and Responsibilities Our ideal candidates are passionate about using technology to solve challenges once deemed "unsolvable." During the program the job responsibilities will include: Gather project-related information through internal and external sources Develop finite element models for various types of nonlinear problems Work seamlessly with a multidisciplinary team and present project progress to various internal and external clients Complete safety and environment standards training. Upon completion of Returnship the participant will then develop into a skilled Modeling and Simulation engineer and will focus on developing electronics for measurement. The training and job responsibilities will expand gradually to: Understand the design, manufacturing, and operation of the products you perform Modeling and Simulation on Integrate various models developed in different software environments into a system model to enable co-simulation and accurately predict the performance and health condition of a physical asset Develop scripts to link different pieces of information and automate repetitive tasks Deliver results per defined key project milestones along with team members and collaborators Present project progress updates to stakeholders and management Develop domain expertise and share knowledge with peers and the engineering community Qualifications Essential Masters or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Engineering Mechanics with a specialty in Applied Mechanics Good understanding of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) principles as well as the ability to interpret, generate, and present technical material and problem solve Understanding of continuum mechanics, nonlinear dynamics, plasticity, fracture mechanics, the finite element method, failure analysis, engineering design concepts, and materials engineering Ability with MS Office applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint) Prior experience with ABAQUS or Ansys is essential. Experience in other FEA codes is a bonus.
