Overview / Responsibilities Wood is currently seeking a Senior Planner to join our Brisbane office to join our clients major mineral processing projects which is being developed in Central Asia. Wood is at the forefront of engineering solutions for a net zero future. A key component of decarbonising the world is the Mining and Minerals Industry which supplies the critical minerals required for this revolution. Wood Minerals and Metals (Projects) is currently delivering critical metals projects (Battery and Magnet metals) all over the world, including Copper, Lithium, Vanadium, Rare Earths, and Base Metals projects. This position will see you join the project team for our international client's major magnetite project which is producing 60m tonne per annum ore with an expected life mine of 27 years. Your role with join our project services team working in a collaborative group in a multi-disciplinary team whilst this project is in detailed design. As a key member of the team, duties will include (but not solely limited to): Develop and maintain planning control structures are developed and maintained in alignment with approved project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). Develop and maintain baseline project plans and schedules using appropriate scheduling software. Monitor and control planning activities through all phases of project lifecycle Liaise with engineering, procurement and construction functions, and others as required, including third parties, to maintain awareness of project activities, their status, and their impact on the project schedule and resourcing requirements. Prepare and provide copies of project plans and schedules in accordance with project reporting requirements. Produce and issue updates to project plans, schedules and resource requirements. Monitor overall project progress status, achievement of major milestones, and evaluate project performance in relation to planned performance. Liaise with cost discipline to ensure accurate and timely control and forecasting of man-hour budgets and ensure that the impact of all change requests are properly assessed and included in the schedules. Participate in Project Controls Compliance and Continuous Improvement Reviews Assist and support in the mentoring of junior planning personnel. Skills / Qualifications About You Wood is looking for those who are experienced within a similar related industry, working in a multi-disciplinary engineering cohort, who can bring their skills in planning/scheduling to a large-scale complex project. Relevant scheduling/planning experience within the resources sector on medium to large scale projects Proficient knowledge of Project Execution Procedures for Scheduling Proficient understanding of WBS & CBS structures and project reporting capabilities Ability to prepare resource loading, progress and staffing plans Proficient understanding of earned value application, cost and schedule variance analyses/trending and what-if scenarios Detailed understanding of project management principles and techniques Good understanding of Cost Management, Change Control, Planning & Risk Analysis & Management Demonstrates commitment to Wood Values, Visions & Behaviours Applies analytical and statistical evaluation Ability to work independently and as part of a team, handling multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment Uses initiative, experience and a proactive approach to problem solving.
