Position Summary The Senior Software Engineer is an individual contributor that works under limited supervision and demonstrates a level of experience and/or accountability in their own job area. The Senior Engineer may lead assignments for specific job function or projects and determines the approach to work which are monitored/supervised by key objectives. A Senior Engineer may supervise entry level individual contributors to ensure the work completion as per set standards and procedures. This position is within OTech's Software, Simulations and Controls group. We architect and support unique solutions for Department of Defense underwater robotics systems . Our efforts range from prototypes that meet quick-burn government mission needs, to design and build of systems with rigorous lifecycle management. The vehicles we support range from large work class ROVs that leverage our commercial oil and gas products, to autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) utilizing Oceaneering's Freedom technology. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is an effective communicator. This position is for a program that utilizes sensor fusion techniques to reduce navigational errors in vehicle locations. The program uses a technical stack of databases, C, C++, C# and GIS. This position is Hybrid/Remote and will report to Springfield, VA 1 -2 days per week. Duties & Responsibilities Write and integrate software CSU's to the defined software architecture. Fully understand and provide feedback on software design choices. Function as an interface between the software team and the users. Communicate independently and effectively with teammates for issue resolution. Support software deployment and testing at the customer site in Springfield, Virginia. Trips are typically once/week but could occasionally be more. Qualifications ESSENTIAL: BS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or related technical field. Commensurate experience will be considered. 2+ years of practical experience in software engineering. Experience with high level programming language, preferably C or C++. Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 environment. Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Government Department of Defense Security Clearance. PREFERRED: Experience working with or displaying data using GIS tools. Experience with SQL database programming. Experience with Python, VBScript or other scripting languages. Comfortable researching and implementing open source libraries and SDK's. Comfortable with algorithms and mathematics. Experience with usage of Jira and Git. Experience with or comprehension of maritime navigation concepts. Experience with data analysis processes. Additional Information This position is Hybrid - Remote and will require commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need.
