Position Summary The Software Test Engineer is an individual contributor and represents professional entry point of a career. The Software Test Engineer learns to use theoretical professional concepts and apply company-established practices and processes to deliver work under general supervision. This position is within Otech's Software, Simulations and Controls group. We architect and support unique solutions for Department of Defense underwater robotics systems. Our efforts range from prototypes that meet quick-burn government mission needs, to design and build of systems with rigorous lifecycle management. The vehicles we support range from large work class ROVs that leverage our commercial oil and gas products, to autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) utilizing Oceaneering's Freedom technology. This position is for a program that manages a suite of applications for the analysis and organization of underwater data. The program mainly uses a technical stack of databases, C# and GIS. The program is searching for a candidate interested in learning how to manage manual and automated tests to ensure product quality. The candidate will design and implement tests, review system requirements, track quality assurance metrics and maintain pertinent documentation. An ideal candidate is inquisitive, imaginative and detail oriented. Duties & Responsibilities Maintain relevant knowledge about new testing tools and test strategies. Work with the team to identify, develop and document verification methods for new and existing software products. Be an active team participant in maintaining and improving the Agile process. Prepare detailed• comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases. Review technical and non-technical documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback. Plan and coordinate testing activities• thoroughly identifying and documenting bugs. Build and execute automation scripts using approved tools. Track quality assurance metrics• like defect densities and open defect counts. Provide support for troubleshooting fielded systems as needed. Generally planning, managing, and tracking project test efforts. Support software deployment and testing at the customer site in Suitland, Maryland. Trips are typically once/week but could occasionally be more. Qualifications ESSENTIAL BS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or related technical field. Commensurate experience will be considered. 0-3 years of practical experience in software engineering. Experience with high level programming language, preferably C#. Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 environment. Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Government Department of Defense Security Clearance. Must be a US Citizen. PREFERRED Understanding of SDLC. Experience with automated testing tools. Test system integration tools and techniques with common SDLC systems such as Atlassian tool sets Experience working with or displaying data using GIS tools. Experience with SQL database programming. Experience with usage of Jira and Git. Additional Information This position is Hybrid - Remote and will require commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need.
