R&D Geophysicist Location: Houston, TX Responsibilities: Research and develop new algorithms in seismic imaging, inversion and earth model building Maintain and support our existing seismic imaging code base, including HPC data-handling infrastructure and GPU-accelerated kernels Adapt recent innovations from computing technology and applied mathematics into seismic inversion applications Investigate and ensure the geophysical integrity of our software as it is developed and commercialized Optimize new and existing production software to ensure ongoing high performance on cutting-edge hardware Present results at internal and external conferences and at client meetings Provide support to commercialization and operational teams Requirements: PhD in Computational Physics/Applied Math/Geophysics Minimum 3-5 years direct experience Strong background in applied mathematics/physics/geophysics, especially in inverse problems, numerical inversion, numerical simulation, linear and nonlinear solvers, and optimization. Experience programming for high performance computing environments using C++ and CUDA, including parallel computing, performance profiling and CPU/GPU optimization.
