Position Summary The Space Systems Business Development Manager is responsible for leading the strategic planning, identification, qualification, pursuit, and successful capture of a diverse portfolio of business development opportunities within existing and adjacent markets aligned with Space Systems division capabilities. Duties & Responsibilities The position requires establishing a thorough understanding of current core Space System capabilities as well as recent past performance in order to leverage those into broader federal civil (eg NASA), commercial (low earth orbit), and DoD space markets. The SSBDM will work with the OSS senior program management team as well as key support service functional areas such as Finance / Pricing and Contracts to develop discriminating value propositions and offerings, and effectively bid selected opportunities to achieve competitive win rates. This individual also operates within the Aerospace & Defense Technologies (Adtech) Sector marketing and business development framework including the management and reporting of Space Systems Customer Relationship Management (CRM) pipeline opportunities, associated business planning metrics, and future organizational growth projections. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Leading development and execution of strategic growth plans focused on long term existing and adjacent markets. Leading the identification, prioritization and qualification of pursuits through the OSS new business process and managing the overall new business portfolio to ensure diversification of risk and achievement of long-range planning growth goals. Leveraging the use of corporate BD systems (Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Power BI) and associated capabilities to manage OSS periodic reporting requirements, data integrity, and to increase visibility and insight into trending and analysis of OSS opportunity projections. Collaborating closely with organizations across Space Systems, other divisions of ADTECH, and the broader Oceaneering International corporation to ensure coordination of new business activities and maximum leverage of Oceaneering International resources to grow the business . Accessing a variety of available industry Business Intelligence tools (eg Government Point of Entry (SAM.GOV, Seaport NxG, GSA, OTA, etc) to monitor competitor and industry news, study competitors awarded solicitations, award amount or ceiling, POP, and other performance indicators to aid in OSS future business planning. Engage relevant space industry tradeshow venues with proper selection, planning, participation, and consistent follow-up with key space industry contacts in support of Oceaneering marketing efforts as well as fulfilling competition analyst data voids. Facilitate consistent, professional, compliant responses to Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) notices and developing/populating marketing templates through creative business writing responses. Provide assistance with proposal management responsibilities as required. Qualifications REQUIRED: Experience developing growth strategy, applying those strategies to the identification and qualification of new markets and specific opportunities, executing a capture plan including developing a discriminating offering with strong value proposition so for potential new customers. Strong analytical skills to qualitatively filter potential strategic partnership opportunities. Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams in developing and delivering superior products with constrained schedules and resources. At least 5 years of experience working new business activities, including some experience in capture management, proposal development and customer account management. At least 5 years of demonstrated team leadership that includes proven communication and presentation skills, effective decision making, building consensus, conflict resolution, and sustaining the team's energy and commitment. Direct experience engaging with high-level government stakeholders and customers to understand mission need and effectively communicate a value proposition. Preferred experience engaging with Congressional professional staff. Willingness to travel domestically with occasional over-the-weekend and extended travel. Desire to proactively drive change and aggressively engage competitively to grow a large business unit in the aerospace industry. Leadership and engagement skills to motivate and effectively direct a team of BD and engineering professionals. Very strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field. Excellent written and oral communications skills. PREFERRED: Prior experience with military space-based markets, applicable Space Force and Intel community customers and their missions, enabling technologies, core programs and key acquisitions related to space defense. 4+ years Government contracting desired. 4+ years proposal writing desired.
