Overview / Responsibilities Wood is recruiting for a Lead Estimator to join our team in Perth CBD on either a full-time / part-time (job share) basis. This is a permanent role working closely with the APAC Regional Project Controls Manager. Wood's Operations APAC (West) business delivers brownfields engineering, procurement, construction, optimisation, and technical services to the Oil & Gas sector and enjoys long-term partnerships with the region's most prominent producers located in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Kazakhstan. Your main focus will be to provide estimating functional leadership for the Operations business unit in Western Australia, as well as support broader initiatives for the APAC region. You will be leading the estimating function across all contracts and new proposals and drive operational excellence. Responsibilities Provides all aspects of estimating support to Wood project teams and clients ensuring that estimating systems, procedures and work practices are maintained in line with specific contract requirements Ensures that all project cost estimates are documented and auditable and that the operations estimating norms and estimating data is maintained and issued in a controlled manner May work within a deployed project context or as part of the central project controls team supporting the overall operation Provides contribution to estimating processes across the company Leads the project estimating function as required in internal reviews and in project status meetings with the client and Wood management Contributes to the implementation of project estimating best practices, inclusive of norms based estimating Develops and issue to relevant parties for approval / comment the Basis of Estimate for each project or proposal cost estimate to be developed Develops and maintain project cost estimates in accordance with the Basis of Estimate, including scope of work, man-hour and materials estimates and documented assumptions Participates in internal management and client cost estimate reviews, coordinate comments and obtain estimate sign-off approval from relevant parties Produces and issue updates to project / proposal cost estimates in a controlled manner Liaises with proposals, engineering, procurement, subcontract and construction functions to maintain awareness of the requirements and costs of labour, plant and equipment, materials, subcontracts to ensure these are accurately reflected in the estimating database Ensures the corporate risk process is applied to project / proposal cost estimates as required Join us in the heart of Perth's CBD at Dexus Place - 240 St Georges Terrace, free 24/7 access to an exclusive on-site gym, superb end of trip facilities, coffee machines serving on demand and plenty of spaces to get creative. Skills / Qualifications Please note you must be an Australian citizen or currently hold Permanent Residency (PR) and able to work lawfully in Australia without company sponsorship. Ideally, you will be suitably qualified with a minimum of 10 + years relevant industry experience (Construction and Oil & Gas) with demonstrated experience working in a corporate role across all facets of estimating delivery. In addition, you will have: Have led the estimating function and team of Estimators A degree or diploma or a trade background Experience working across EPC/EPCM projects. Experience with implementation of Bespoke estimating platforms Proficiency in industry standard software (including Microsoft suite) Experience in the preparation of bottom up and/or top down estimates An understanding of estimate classification classes Excellent communication and presentation skills What will set you apart is your proven experience in a similar role as an Estimating professional in Oil & Gas - both onshore and offshore.
