Duties & Responsibilities Through this program, Oceaneering is seeking motivated Quality Inspector Interns to work and learn in our Marine Services Division (MSD) located in Chesapeake, VA. The successful candidate will participate in a practical, structured, systematic program of on-the-job training AND related instruction to develop existing military technical experience. Internship will be 6 - 24 weeks long and can only commence within 180 days before leaving active-duty service. Internship Schedule/ Hours Responsibility of Employer Responsibility of Intern Week 1 40 hours Oceaneering Orientation Course Complete Course (1 Week) Week 2 40 hours Craftsman Course Complete Course (1 Week) Week 3 10 hours Firewatch Qualification Complete Qualification Week 3 10 hours OSHA 10 Hour Maritime (7615) Certification Complete Certification Week 3 16 hours SUBSAFE Qualification Complete Qualification Week 3 4 hours Time Keeping Training Report time in accordance with SkillBridge program requirements, and OII PeopleSoft Timekeeping tool Week 4 40 hours OJT Demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the Objective Quality Evidence and documentation requirements needed to support the SUBSAFE and DSS-SOC programs. Week 5 40 hours OJT Demonstrate ability to read and interpret NAVSEA drawings and Standards used to support manufacturing and repair for Submarine and DSS-SOC production. Week 6 40 hours OJT Demonstrate the ability to use calipers, micrometers, depth gages, torque wrenches, and other precision measuring devices. Week 7 40 hours OJT Complete the Quality Inspector (QI) qualification as well as those qualifications associated with the QI qualification. Week 8 - 12 40 hours/ week up to 24 weeks depending on length of internship approved by command OJT Assignment to shop or local projects to assist company Quality Inspectors. Qualifications REQUIRED Must meet all eligibility requirements outlined in DOD Instruction 1322.29 and NAVADMIN 222/15 Command approval verified by the VDVS. Official TAD/ TDY Orders to Oceaneering International, Inc. for the period of the internship. Minimum of 5 years military experience performing SUBSAFE quality maintenance and/or inspections. Must have basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite. Detail oriented and results driven. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Must have the ability to obtain government base access. Must have a Secret/Confidential security clearance.
