Overview / Responsibilities Wood is currently recruiting for a Vice President of Business Development (BD) for the Operations business in Europe, Middle East, & Africa (EMEA), reporting operationally to the President of Operations for EMEA and functionally to the President of Strategy & Development (S&D) for Operations globally. The individual will work in conjunction with the Operations and Regional/Business S&D, BD and Marketing teams to develop, support, and play a leading role in delivering a road map and pipeline for business growth and market positioning which aligns with the company strategy plus local business investment and growth opportunities. Concurrently this positions key focus areas include: Ensuring the company's service offering is fully understood to both internal and external stakeholders Ensuring understanding, implementation, and use of appropriate policies, processes, practices, systems and tools that support Group BD strategy and targets Provide analysis and insight into customer trends, advanced business development methods and act as a focal point for company wide special project initiatives associated with business development & marketing Member of the Operations S&D functional leadership team the role holder will contribute to the Strategy and Development functional objectives The Vice President is responsible for developing and delivering strategic growth plans for the EMEA Operations business, in doing so improving the quality of earnings and market diversification whilst working closely with their peers in the EMEA Operations leadership team. The role provides direction and leadership to achieve strategic goals, vision, and shared values through finance, risk management, change leadership, people and culture, stakeholder management, governance, assurance, compliance, and reputation. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities include: Advise on market trends and emerging business within customer portfolio, sector and industry Drive the effective pursuit and acquisition of new business in line with company strategy and targets Ensure that detailed customer, competitor, sector, and geographic market intelligence and insights are input to the Strategic Planning Process at Group, business unit (BU) and other levels, including, for example, merger & acquisition (M&A) recommendations Provide oversight to the market sector leads, ensuring sector initiatives/plans/priorities are aligned with the Group, BUs, Service lines strategies/plans/priorities/directions/roadmaps and that sector inputs are made into the strategic planning process Develop and implement a roadmap for S&D in line with strategic priorities, and coherently applied across the BUs Act as a focal point for S&D group-wide project initiatives and/or provide leadership as required. Drive effective business-winning strategies across the company: identification and pursuit/bidding of prospects, and identification of key pursuits, including direct involvement where required Objective S&D voice when there are conflicts regarding pursuit/no pursuit and bid/no bid decision gates, or which office(s) should pursue/lead specific opportunities Oversee support into Customer Management Framework Programme, determining levels of resourcing, and ensuring the Customer Satisfaction Feedback Programme delivers valuable insight on Strategic and Key Accounts. Act as an important customer facing Account Manager and/or Executive Sponsor as required. Develop and maintain strategic customer relationships in line with agreed zipper plans involving a broad range of personal customer engagements at senior and influential levels. Drive effective cross-selling across the group, with specific focus on CMF global accounts, and ensure that the company's service offering is fully understood and implemented both internally and externally Identify and develop strategic relationships and alliances to drive strategic plans and growth Identify and develop growth plans in new countries and/or new services in existing countries Identify and progress merger and acquisition opportunities supporting and managing internal and external stakeholders through to deal closing Participate in the development of Group and BU Business Strategy, Business Plan and Budget Report on significant (>USD 5m) opportunities, prospects and proposals within business portfolio Assume the role of Single Point of Authority, Project Sponsor/Director for tactical projects and management of change Advise on business/service line capability and skill requirements, current and emerging Support the operations leadership teams in operational excellence and service delivery activities Responsible for knowledgably articulating (business) service offering in core and emerging areas and converting this capability into earnings within client portfolio; Participate in group, BU and business innovation and improvement programmes Operate effectively within budget and in accordance with Delegation of Authority Set clear targets for business development and proposals teams and individuals to drive business-winning effectiveness and agree, and report against suitable functional KPIs across the business Identify HiPo talent and manage succession planning across S&D Manage the development and implementation of S&D skills and training Drive the effective collection of customer satisfaction feedback on company performance at multiple levels from key accounts Closing date August, 24th, 2022. Skills / Qualifications Engineering, Science or Business Management degree Professional membership (Chartered Engineer or equivalent) Job specific experience: Significant experience in a senior business focused leadership role within a complex global organisation Extensive experience in strategy, business development, merger & acquisition and business growth implementation in a large complex organization Extensive personal network of contacts across a range of customers at high level and across markets Ability to interpret trends in industry as they relate to current and emerging Wood service lines A strong grasp of effective marketing methods, tools and techniques Ability to influence and challenge current thinking at the highest levels both internally and externally, through clear, informed and logical argument and discussion, backed up where necessary by analysis and robust data Demonstrable understanding of managing a broad customer base of existing and emerging business, competitors, partners, and other key stakeholders Operational experience to enhance credibility in front of customers Knowledge of: Company performance and how it can deliver and add value to its customers Complex strategic, commercial and business models Corporate governance and decision-making Detailed awareness of external factors, customers, markets, competitors and their impact on the Group's strategy and success Changing regulatory environment Current and future industry trends Experiences Proven record of delivery and continuous improvement Established and achieved challenging performance targets, annual and long-term budgets and forecasting Demonstrated a commitment to continuous learning and development Demonstrated technical excellence Record of business-creativity/entrepreneurial achievement Demonstrated innovative strategies and implemented long term solutions Company Overview Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
