Location: Rosharon - United States The Senior Materials Engineer will develop, evaluate, and test materials such as elastomers that are used for downhole tools in Well Production Services. Roles and Responsibilities: Apply technical knowledge to engineering projects on materials and materials processing. Provide consultation on material selection, characterization, property data, and failure prediction. Evaluate polymeric, elastomeric, and/or metallic materials through characterization via coupon testing, component testing, functional testing, and related analyses. Develop, evaluate, and qualify special manufacturing processes, such as those for elastomer compounding, molding, and extrusion. Develop and execute plans to qualify new materials such as elastomer compounds for high pressure seals in sour environments. Write elastomer materials process instructions, specifications, and standards. Perform root cause analysis for failures and provide recommendations for failure prevention. Analyze data to develop product advancements , focusing on elastomer material selection, modification, and processing effects. Provide material consultation to InTouch engineers, field locations, and external clients. Perform material engineering reviews for contract and sub-contract statements of work and specifications. Advise on quality requirements, traceability controls, and procurement documentation to guide procurement activities. Interact with suppliers and sub-contractors on material manufacturing activities. Produce detailed technical reports and effective technical presentations Qualifications and Experience: A Master's degree (PhD desired) in Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemistry from an accredited academic institution. 5-8 years of related research, engineering, and/or manufacturing experience. Sound comprehension of polymer material science and engineering, including treatment of physical and chemical properties, mechanical characterization, and processing. Ability to determine appropriate analytical techniques for material analysis. Hands-on approach to problem solving, including experience with material characterization techniques and instrumentation. Ability to adapt new knowledge and processes for materials characterization and manufacturing. Ability to operate characterization equipment in a laboratory, such as: Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC); Uniaxial Tension/Compression Machine; Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA); Thermo-Gravimetric Analyzer (TGA); Thermo-Mechanical Analyzer (TMA); Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM); Small Angle X-Ray Diffractor (XRD). This list is not comprehensive, and familiarity with all equipment is not required. Experience with computers and related skills, including MS Office, to enable completion of engineering projects. Strong technical communication skills (written and oral) with an ability to present experimental design, execution, and analysis in a coherent manner. Experience with project management (setting goals, developing action plans) , both as an individual and as a member of a team.
