DRILLING ENGINEER CONTEXT: Within technically challenging areas, with budgetary and time constraints, the job holder will play an important role in optimising well operations and ensuring that wells are fit for purpose. This is critical to achieving the objectives of the CNS Drilling and Wells function. MAIN ACTIVITIES: Perform drilling engineering tasks as per WCM Procedure (L2-WCM-00-001) i.e. preparation, SOW, peer reviews, basis of design, HSE notification preparation. Ensuring wells are designed and prepared in accordance with UK Regulations and Client Company Rules in a timely manner, in liaison with the other project members (Completion, testing, fluids etc) Participate in the optimisation of safe working practices are considered in the development of operational programmes Participate in the identification and mitigation of 'major risks' in the development of operational programmes and demonstrate through active participation in the well risk assessment process Develop and deploy 'HPHT specialties', such as HP/HT casing design in WellCAT and Managed Pressure Drilling operations Prepare drilling programmes/end of well reports and co-ordinate pre-spud meeting Prepare applications (HSE notifications, DECC permits) and returns to external agencies as required to satisfy the overall drilling programme in a timely manner, track and co-ordinate approvals and permits Ensure the application of the Company Rules within the programmes/activities and apply for derogations as required Proactively identify and prepare programme amendments/MOCs change to the manual/well programme or in case of unscheduled events, i.e. Squeeze procedures, side track procedures, abandonment procedures, etc. Undertake technical studies and apply technical skills and innovative thinking to obtain positive outcomes. Propose changes and/or innovations with properly identified risks and expected benefits. Document such innovations in the REX system. Provide technical advice on specific area of technical expertise to other business areas/projects Supervise small task forces, comprising third party contractors to resolve engineering/technical issues and lead operational implementation of solutions Update and follow up of equipment preparation for routine and non-routine operations Provide offshore supervision support for specific operations as required Liaise closely with the DCSI and DCSSVs to support implementation of engineering work plans, providing live drilling engineering support to operations (casing design, directional, hydraulics, swab and surge, torque and drag, well control calculations etc.) Liaise with the representatives from the Geology, Reservoir and Production departments during the planning, execution, and post-well analysis stages for each well Liaise with the Well Examiner and ensure all programs, updates/MOCs and notifications are in line with the Well Examination Scheme. Follow up and improving well performances, deploy Client and Group digital tools to improve drilling performance Follow up and update of the well performance dossiers and launch of appropriate action plans Actively promote "share experience" within and outside the department Accurately prepare budget and duration required for the wells or parts of, raise related Contract Release Orders and Service Orders. Update and follow-up of the rig cost control for service contracts involved in drilling and completion operations Effective contract management of contracts allocated, ensuring best value for company and proper execution of the contract As contract rep for diverse services companies, follow up of contractor performances, plan and conduct QA/QC audit and SQM Act as DCSI whenever necessary SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: The job holder will hold a BSc of MSc or equivalent in appropriate engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Offshore or Petroleum) with experience in well engineering. Chain of command certification to DCSI level Organisational skills to prioritise and manage a heavy workload in a rapidly changing environment Good computer skills, especially in Drilling Engineering softwares (T-DESK, WellCAT, Wellview ...) Job Holder will be committed to developing skills and experience in technical disciplines i.e. well completion design, well architecture calculation etc. Well-developed knowledge of contractual/legal/terms & conditions/insurance issues
